Big Bear Retreat is a project located in snowy Big Bear. The client sought a 4,000-square-foot getaway with strong architectural character, suitable as an investment property. The design stands apart from traditional gabled roofs in the area, embracing a contemporary, minimalist, and authentic style. The retreat features distinct spaces connected through a self-guided layout. It’s clad in shou sugi ban wood and boasts floor-to-ceiling glass windows, offering stunning views of nearby ski resorts.
